New Opportunity for SECTION 8 VOUCHERS for Families Still Residing in Hotels Only

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS WILL SOON EXPIRE. In an effort to secure housing for families still residing in hotels, Mayor J. Christian Bollwage, has secured additional Section 8 voucher approval for families of the CIS Oakwood Community.

There are only 50 vouchers available. These vouchers will be provided on a first come first serve basis. In order to secure this voucher, you must identify a unit that is within the rent limitation of voucher specific to the appropriate bedroom size to accommodate your family. Families of more than 1 person will be prioritized for this program.

The Maximum rents are available in chart at bottom of this email.

Criteria to be eligible for this program:

Currently residing in Hotel under the City of Elizabeth emergency housing Program.

Upon identification of an apartment, you must submit required information to CIS in writing with the following information:

  1. Apartment address,

  2. Landlord's name, contact phone number, and email address

  3. Letter from landlord that states unit is available for occupancy by December 1 with the monthly rent and what utilities are included in the rent.

You must email this information directly to EmergencyVoucherProg@CISNJ.com.

CIS will date stamp receipt of completed application. CIS will then forward appropriate documents to the Housing Authority for final processing and approval. Only complete applications will be processed.

An interview with appropriate HACE staff will be scheduled. If you fail to make your appointment with HACE, your request will be deemed terminated.

It is critical that you understand that accepting the voucher means you must relinquish rights to your unit in the CIS OAKWOOD community at the time you are approved for the voucher by HACE.

Only units available for occupancy by December 1 will be approved.

These are the current Maximum Payment Standards if utilities are not included - but must be approved by HACE.

Maximum:

  • 1 BED $1,058.00

  • 2 BED$1,343.00

  • 3 BED $1796.00
